What is Jeuveau®?
Jeuveau Injection Procedure
Jeuveau is injected into the targeted muscles with a very fine needle. The effects of the treatment usually start to become noticeable within a few days and they can last for several months while the muscle activity gradually returns to its normal state.
Jeuveau is not permanent. The effects typically last between three to four months. During this time, the muscle activity gradually returns to its normal state, when wrinkles and lines may start to reappear. At this point, you can choose to have additional injections to maintain desired results.
It's important to note that the longevity of the effects of Jeuveau can vary from person to person, depending on factors such as age, skin type, genetics and the severity of the treatment area. Additionally, the results of Jeuveau are not permanent, and over time, the skin will continue to age and develop new wrinkles, which may require further treatment.

How does Jeuveau work?
When injected, Jeuveau temporarily prevents your nerves from telling your facial muscles to flex. The result? In clinical trials, Jeuveau was shown to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines.
What's the difference between Jeuveau & Botox?
Jeuveau and Botox are both forms of botulinum toxin type A. However, Dr. Kim has noted a few differences—one being that Jeuveau seems to kick in a few days earlier and that patients have shared the impression that it comes on and wears off very naturally.
How long does it take for Jeuveau's effects to "kick in?"
Your muscles will start to relax within 2 days, but it can take a week or longer to see full results. (That’s a bit faster than Botox, which can take up to 2 weeks to fully take effect.)
It’s not uncommon for patients to return to Dr. Kim 7 - 10 days post-treatment to see the effects and tweak the treatment plan to optimize future treatments.
How long does Jeuveau last?
Jeuveau lasts 4 months, on average, according to clinical trials, while Botox lasts 3 to 4 months. Longevity can vary by patient and dose. Typically, the higher the dose, the longer it lasts — up to a certain point. There is a margin of diminishing returns.
What are some of the side effects of Jeuveau?
As with any injection, potential side effects include pain, bleeding, bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and infection.
In Jeuveau clinical trials, some patients also reported headaches, eyelid drooping, upper respiratory infection, and an increased white blood cell count were all reported.
Rarely, patients experience allergic reactions marked by itching, rash, welts, wheezing, and trouble breathing. However, this treatment is safe for those who have an egg allergy or a dairy allergy. The protein it contains is human serum albumin, derived from human plasma, which is different from the albumen protein found in egg whites and milk.
Botox doesn't work on me, will Jeuveau work?
Botox and the other neurotoxins may become less effective over time in some patients. One theory is that antibodies build up, neutralizing the Botox before it gets to the nerve ending. The only way to know if Jeuveau will work for you as a Botox alternative is to try it. Each of the neuromodulators has slight differences in its chemical makeup, so it’s possible Jeuveau will work if your body has stopped responding to others. That said, switching to a different brand of botulinum toxin usually doesn't make this problem go away. In general, patients will require higher doses (at greater expense) — and the toxin effect won't last as long, even at higher doses.

Do not receive JEUVEAU if you:
- Are allergic to JEUVEAU or any of the ingredients in JEUVEAU.
- Had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product such as rimabotulinumtoxinB (MYOBLOC®), onabotulinumtoxinA (BOTOX®, BOTOX® COSMETIC), abobotulinumtoxinA (DYSPORT®), or incobotulinumtoxinA (XEOMIN®).
- Have a skin infection at the planned injection site
